F-1 visa students have a 60-day grace period after completing their academic program or Optional Practical Training (OPT) during which they can remain in the U.S. The grace period begins under two conditions:
- After completing your academic program: The 60-day grace period starts the day after the official end date listed on your Form I-20, typically your graduation or the last day of your final semester.
- After completing OPT: The 60-day grace period starts the day after your OPT authorization ends, as indicated on your Employment Authorization Document (EAD).
